With the rise of electronic reading, this project aims to provoke thought on the future of publishing and technology. Somewhat crude but highly conceptual, each of these character designs are based around a different aspect of “the death of print,” with their features made up of a hybrid of print and digital components. Together, they tell a story of print’s history and conflicts with modern technology. Designs were screen-printed and displayed as part of an installation, amongst other print and digital elements, in order to question the viewer about the strengths and weaknesses of both mediums. These included embedded animations and live printable postcards.
